Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you teach people who have no previous piano playing experience?

Absolutely! I teach people from all entry levels and can adapt the content of lessons to best benefit the individual.

Do you also teach children?

Unfortunately, I am currently only accepting adult students due to having a high number of young learners. However, you are welcome to enquire about piano lessons for your children and I will inform you of the current waiting time for lessons for young students.

Do you teach in groups or do you teach individually?

I can teach both groups and individually. If you have a group of friends you would like to learn with it can be arranged also. Please leave a week's notice in advance for any group bookings.

Where do the lessons take place?

I teach from my home studio located in Reading, RG1 7YT. It is a great place to learn to play that piano with a friendly, relaxing environment. It is also easy to access from other forms of public transport, including Reading West train station which is only a few minutes walk away. What happens during the lessons?

Depending on your entry level the lessons will include working from worksheets and books or looking at more advanced music in the genre of your choice. Scores from ready-made songs will be available and as we progress we can start working on writing our own scores if required. We will also concentrate on playing techniques such as hand position and pedalling. For more advanced students, working on classical pieces simply for pleasure, or exam work up to grade eight and beyond is possible.

Where can I get gift vouchers for your lessons?

I do offer gift vouchers; please do not hesitate to contact me either by telephone or email.

What I can offer

We can teach students from complete beginners to more advanced students, enabling them to play the songs that they are passionate about. I can teach classical, jazz or rock and pop piano - from Rachmaninov to Elton John and everything in between, ensuring that our lessons are fun and enaging. I teach from a central Reading location, with easy access from public transport and by car.

Andrew is a great piano player, but more importantly he is a great teacher. He encouraged me to learn and be confident in my abilities and that helped me a huge amount. (Sam)
